The Challenge

Brightmark was transforming waste into clean energy — but their website wasn’t telling that story. It lagged behind their new brand, lacked mobile optimization, and felt more corporate than cutting-edge. They had smart brand designers and devs. What they didn’t have was a UX lead who could bring it all together. That’s where I stepped in.

My Insights

I led the UX vision: aligning branding, marketing, and engineering under one design system. I refined layouts, prototyped interactions, and created dev-ready design specs that made implementation smoother.

My Contributions

  • Ran a fast discovery sprint: competitor audits, forum scraping, proto-personas

  • Built mobile-first wireframes, sticky navs, scroll-triggered effects in Figma

  • Delivered clickable prototypes with hover states, motion, and nav flows

  • Recorded walkthrough videos to guide the dev handoff

  • Built a modular design system (and said no to over-designing static pages)

  • Created a flexible newsletter layout system ready for plugin exports

Reflection

This wasn’t about pixels — it was about uniting silos. I brought consistency across functions and turned a fragmented brand rollout into a cohesive digital experience. What worked: fast iteration, modular systems, and clear documentation. What I’d change? I’d push for deeper user interviews and early usability testing to unlock richer stories and user needs.
